Plaza Design was created in 1982 to support local artisans and provide interesting jobs. Regional artists stocked the 350 square foot store with consignment pieces. After a move and expansion on the historic Arcata Plaza, we opened a store in McKinleyville by the world's largest totem pole. In October 2002, we added our third store in downtown Eureka in the historic Gross building (1903). In October 2008 we opened our fourth store – an online gift registry and web store – currently featuring Fire & Light, Baroni Designs, Peggy Loudon Ceramics, Fire Dance Designs, Malia Landis Ceramics, and Plaza Design Gift Certificates.
Our support for local artisans runs deep. Some of our best selling artists, like Peggy Loudon and Holly Yashi, have been with us from the start. Every month we host evening art events at each of our stores profiling local artists, featuring live local music, and serving wine by the glass from 6:00-9:00 pm. Please join us on the first Saturday of every month in Eureka, the second Friday of every month in Arcata, and the third Friday of every month in McKinleyville.
At Plaza Design, we strive to keep our customers happy, and they give back to us with their appreciation and deep regard. Many come in just for a lift. Please keep current on our events and promotions by subscribing to our e-newsletter and visiting our blog. Our blog is also a great way to ask questions and send us feedback.
